Run #89 A little speed training never hurt nobody (at least I don't think so)

Date: October 17 at 9:15am
Place: Treadmill at home (Jada's home today, so when the alarm went off at 5:30am and I felt tired, I rolled over and said to myself "later!"
Mileage: 2.1 (My actual goal was in minutes, this was the mileage that I ended up with) + .25 cooldown
Time It Took: 24:00
Pace: 11:25
Miles This Week: 5.6 + .25 = 5.85
Miles This Month: 16.67
2008 Total: 505.57

Thoughts/Comments: So my goal is to do 1 speedtraining session each week. I would guess this qualifies:

*3 minutes at 5mph, followed by 1 minute at 6mph: repeated 6 times

Maybe I should shorten my slower pace to 2 minutes? I dunno.

Happy Friday everyone! Jada is off today and we're going to head out and do girl stuff. First stop, get these bushes (aka eyebrows) done. I get them threaded up in an Indian neighborhood.

Good job on the speed training! Sorry I don't know much about it to offer you any advice, but you did well in my book, lol.
Take Care

Hi lindy, great job on getting some speed work in. 3:1 is a great starting place, but now maybe try cutting down the 5 mph about 15-30 sec each time you do it so eventually your recovery period is equal to your speed period. Maybe even try some mile repeats at 11:00 pace with recovery walks/jog in between. I know speed workouts have helped my running transform this past year, I definitely recommend them. Awesome work today!

I love your quote and it may or may not go on the wall in my apartment.

What is threading, exactly? I've heard of it, but don't know what it is...heard it's painful too

For anyone wondering the same thing: Threading is just another way to "tweeze" your eyebrows. They take a long piece of thread and pull each hair out individually, but really, REALLY fast. Before you know what hits you kinda fast. The result is a really smooth look. The first time it hurts, but after that it doesn't...at least not to me.

Today she did my eyebrows and then asked "Shall I do over your lip?" I was all like "No!" and when she said "are you SURE?????" looking in disbelief, I acquiesced. But this was a quick wax job...which I've never had done before. No biggie, didn't hurt much, and for what it's worth, the skin over my lip is as smooth as a baby's bottom.

Me too.I am vowing to ad speedwork back into my routine. I haven't really done much since last winter. It is so much easier for me to do it on the treadmill. I get distracted by the scenery on outside runs.

Nice job getting it done!
