Run #72 Humid is as humid does

Date/Time: July 30th at 6:00am
Place: lakefront, 72 degrees and VERY humid (81%)
Mileage: 3.16
Time It Took: 36:25
Pace: 11:32
Miles this week: 3.16
Miles this month: 16.12
2008 Goal: 423.09/1000 miles

Thoughts/Comments: So ridiculously humid out there, I was struggling. I don't know how on earth I can pull off this marathon thing at this point, given how much I was struggling...but I figure it's not fair to make any decisions on a humid day while running. But this weekend, I need to hit 8 miles at minimum, and then just keep going up by 2 miles every weekend. And even that is gonna be a stretch. I'd appreciate your thoughts, fellow runners. Am I crazy to think I could still run the marathon at this point?!

I was out this morning around the same time, too. It feels like you can eat the air, it's so humid out! Don't worry...you'll persevere!!!

And those are beautiful pictures of your little girls!

That is exactly what I had to do to get ready or Napa and it worked.

I hurt my knee before Nike and then slowly got back to where I could run and Dec. 1st is when I decided to do Napa which was March 2. I started at 3.5 mi long run and went up by 1.5 until 9 miles then i realized that I had to go up each week by 2 miles nad that is what I did. I was HYPER vigilant about walk warm up, stretch, run, walk cool down, ice knees immediately after every run (I brought my ice packs with me and iced in the car)

Here is a link to my training log from then (if it doesn't go to Dec 07 you can use the calendar thing to go back.) It got me to Napa.

You can do it!
